Working in your bunny slippers for 4 hours, then taking a 5 hour break and working another 4 hours later.

That is what I am doing now. They are called split shifts and I love them. 8am to noon, then 5pm to 9pm.

I love taking a nap in the afternoon.

Three seconds after that, I decided I really don’t care.

It’s been a while but I will catch you up.

All is going very well with working at home. Especially since we have had such atrocious weather here. As I sit at my desk and look outside at the snow and freezing rain, watching as the people slide down the street in their cars, all I can think is…

SUCKERS!

I am sorry, but working at home rocks. I roll out of bed, put the coffee on, switch on the tv. The company I work for believes that no one should have to wait on hold for tech support. Therefore, they go to great lengths to make sure there are plenty of techs on the phone. This means a lot of ‘down time’ for me.

I have subsequently become addicted to home improvement shows. Gotta love TLC and HGTV. Twenty-four hours a day you can watch reno shows. I am already planning my spring renos, ripping up carpet, painting the living room, laying tile on the kitchen floor. After 6 months of nothing but reno, 24/7, I know I can do it.

So, there I sit, coffee in hand, bunny slippered feet propped up on the desk watching TV.

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

Until now.

He got in a fender bender, smashed the bumper of my car. So he is back to walking or being driven. Lets just see if I can save money on gas now.

I am smoking like a feind, and I have been sick for a week straight.

Kind of hard to call in sick, when you live where you work. I did it anyway.

Uh…I seem to smoke more.  Not that I am actually smoking more, but I am going through more cigarettes.

Used to be (at my old job), in an 8 hour shift I would maybe smoke 6-8 cigarettes.  Now I easily go through a pack a day. Most are burning away in the ashtray but are still getting burned.

The fact that I no longer have to brave the Canadian winters to give myself cancer is (to me) an upside. Worth the expense of the cigarettes burning away, unsmoked.

Surfing the net really wasn’t appealing to me. I am more of a do’er on the net than an observer. Meaning I am more productive with my internet usage.

Today I purchased some magazines and a puzzle book, maybe that will help.

Any other suggestions?

Had to wake up at the crack of nine. In case you are wondering, yes I showered and yes I did shave my legs. Although these pictures do not make it look as if I did. But you older folk out there will recognize poor circulation when you see it.

This is us, working hard.

And here we are, taking a coffee break. This required us to swivel in our chair about 14 degrees. It was an exhausting trip through mid-morning traffic.

Most of the day, however, the bunnies stayed under the desk. They like it there, they play pinochle and chat quietly. And of course keep my tootsies warm.

Then a bit of lunch.

I will let you know how I manage this hectic schedule.
I went out tonight to get an obnoxiously comfy chair for my office. I wasn’t able to find the chair I could really be happy in, so I ended up getting this one.

The boy was not in very good form today. I think the fact that he can’t come into my room made it almost impossible for him to stay away.

We will be working on his self restraint or we will be packing his bags and he can go live with his father. He will not screw this job up for me.

So far the only issue is keeping the boy away. I was pretty well prepared, even bought a coffee maker for the room, one of those ‘one-cup’ deals. Just in case I needed it.

I plan on purchasing an egg timer or a stop watch, something to that effect, so I can get up on my breaks and move around. That is going to be weird. Before I would go outside for a smoke on my breaks and lunch, now that I don’t have to I will have to figure out something else to do to get me off my fat ass. Otherwise it will start to take the shape of my chair. (like it hasn’t already)

I didn’t get much done today, (because of the late start) I even forgot to put on the bunny slippers. They will come in handy when it starts to get cold.

I will let you know how the first full day goes. The boy has no school tomorrow so it should be interesting.

Shhhh….they are sleeping.

Install of necessary services is scheduled for October 25th so these guys will finally be on the job.
